Stephen Mahoney started out in the nineties as a DJ and promotor in Dublin, Ireland, where he was born and raised. Extensive travels to the European continent, Asia and Australia broadened his horizon both personally and as a DJ: from psy trance desert and jungle parties, beach parties on Koh Phangan, Ibiza seasons to breaks parties in Sydney and Techno parties in Melbourne, he explored the manifold facets of electronic music all around the globe.
That's the kind of people we love: broad taste and proper musical fans! We are very happy to present his debut 'Draco' on Coincidence which hopefully will be the start of many more to come.

Opening track 'Lun' is the darkest one of the three: loopy, heavy and growling basslines and spooky synths that swirl around, making it a proper track for the earlier or very late Techno hours.

On to 'Ego', which is more minimalistic and relies on very smartsequencing. The bleeps and blops bounce of eachother like particles in an accelerator, yet somehow Stephen keeps everything nicely in check. Reminds me a bit of a Gold Panda track ( ' An Iceberg...') but with that super stripped aesthetic of DVS1. Nifty.

Final track 'Sol' is one for the nostalgic ones: break out the whistles, fluorescent tops and the airplane hangars: here's some proper Acid House. Nowadays most acid sounds like hardcore-with-a-303, but this returns more to the days when Maurice Joshua, Six Brown Brothers and Phuture outlined the playing field. But with a modern approach.
