about

Corvum is not exactly a person you can easily categorize. A greek techno producer that looks like the bass player of a metalband from Norway, but makes music that sounds a bit dark and german AND has a love for Detroit? Well, sure, bring it on!

We originally asked him for one track for a compilation, he came with six. Greek people are all about giving. It makes this release one of the more diverse works we had. Yet it remains consistently the 'Corvum' sound.

Title song "Motor City Industrial Park" is a hybrid track on the edge of where progressive and techno meet. Think James Holden. Guy J. Maybe some Compuphonic. But it does sound like a track ideal for a car trip over a road with the Detroit skyline in sight.

"The Decades Of Lost Puress" is a lot darker and melancholic. A deep techno track with a lot of exciting things happening in the back. Especially the way he used some leads make this one of the tracks that stand out.

On we go, into space. "Weirdness" loops a quirky, almost eighties sounding bleep vaguely referring to the sounds of Tricky Disco or LFO. But in a fresh jacket. Without the aliens.

Fourth track "Farewell" is to me a bit of the second part of Motor City. A bit harder and again that car travel quality that makes miles dissapear under the tires.

With a title like "Await O Perseverance" you could easily think our Corvum has seen a Shakespearean play once too often, greek plays are famous for a reason I guess. However, the track has little to do with stages. Instead you get menacing dark voices mumbling on top of beats that could easily have come out of an old electro set (before electro became the mickey mouse version we currently know, ahum).

Final track "Parallel Division" had absolutely nothing to do with some friends in Berlin, but it is by far the darkest track on the compilation. Very unsettling, like a soundtrack to 'The Walking Dead' series. A proper dark early hours techno track for the more adventurous jocks amongst us.

As a bonus, label boss Psytox fired up a 909, a 808 and three 303's (yes) and went all oldskool on this remix. Deliberately keeping it raw and as organic as possible, he delivered an eight-and-something mix that both is deep and pumping.

All tracks have once again been mastered by Misjah, who is starting to be the key for the signature sound of Coincidence Records 2013.
